Zaha Hadid at Thornhill

I was introducing children to the charismatic architecture of Dame Zaha Hadid.

An icon of neo-futurism, with a formidable personality, Hadid was the first woman to receive the Pritzker Architecture Prize (2004), the first woman to be awarded the RIBA Gold Medal (2015) in her own right and  awarded a Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire 92012), Hadid was an extraordinary and visionary designer.

Children admired photos of Hadid’s most famous projects and then proceeded to create amazing buildings, inspired by Hadid’s designs.

Using materials of different textures and colours, children created models ranging from concert hall, art centre, theathre to several high rise buildings.

All in different forms and shapes, the designs were truly awesome.

Great imaginative effort everyone!
