Another busy day with two more enthusiastic Year 5 classes from Avenue Primary from Newham, London, E12.
We have compared structure and materials used for Museum’s traditional warehouse to the modern buildings surrounding it. Kids have learned about origins, purpose and transformation of Docklands area.
Children were challenged to construct the tallest structure, using toothpicks and cubes of foam again.
They set great teams, learning about balance, stability and good teamwork. As the structures grew, the excitement did too, some ended climbing the tables to reach the top of their structures!
Final results were again impressive. We haven’t beaten the record height, but managed to merge few team’s designs into some new designs. Some structures were more stable than others, some with use of support of different props. The mild competition between teams created lots of merriment and positive rivalry.
