Paper 3D Geometric Forms

New year started with 3D Geometric challenge, constructing 3D Forms out of paper triangles.

We have thoroughly practiced counting! Depending on the number of elements connected kids have built an array of forms:

4 triangles:
– made a spiky Truncated Tetrahedron with triangular openings,

8 triangles:
– made a Cube Octahedron with square shaped openings,

20 triangles:
– made a Truncated Isahedron with pentagonal openings.
a form resembling a footbal.

Adding more triangles in different fashions resulted in some mega 3D irregular structures, as well as they used smaller forms to build modular structures, connecting the forms.

Some forms got names and turned into wolves, cows, chickens (!!) and other creatures.

Kids have decided, that multi-faced forms can be used to create a game; they have marked faces with numbers, then made a list of challenges to be completed upon throwing the number.

So, focus, precision cutting, counting, lick of probability, resulted in creative learning and good fun.

Well done everyone!
