NEWSPAPER CREATIONS
Turning flimsy old newspapers into strong building elements…
Kids have taken off with this project of constructing 3D structures out of… newspapers.
Children have learned how by rolling pieces of recycled old newspapers and magazines into “tubes” they could obtain quite robust building material.
Then only imagination was the limit to what could be made with our “tubes”.
Kids have worked in groups and individually.
The variety of designs came out of this: some cubes, pyramids and other polyhedra, kites, drum kit, trombone…
Those working together achieved even more daring designs: a chair (we didn’t try to sit on it, but it passed a test of holding much smaller load) a small geodesic structure that could (almost) fit two people inside and even a theatre stage!
So recycling old papers adding a bit of creative flare can be quite a bit of fun!
Great work everyone!
