As last workshop theme before half term break, we have completed an ultimate STEAM challenge of building a Rubber band propelled car.

Using a mdf template, bamboo skewers,  recycled bottle caps  and of course elastic bands children have made some amazing vehicles!! 

They have learned about kinetic properties of the elastics, which have transformed stretched bands energy into the power of movement. 

Children have tested different wheel sizes, tension of the bands and adding rubber bands to the wheels to increase traction. 

Then the real fun started with testing the designs in a race.
