optical illusions
Making 3D forms which are not exactly what they seem…
First workshop this year we have started with optical illusions.
The idea was to look at different examples of optical illusions and draw or make a favourite trick.
Children have learned of some ways of using perspective lines to deceive the eye about the size of objects, placing patterns to make us thinking the drawn lines were not straight or making 3D forms which were not exactly what they seemed…
The most popular was a magic floating dice.
Kids have constructed the dice using or copying the template, added their designs and colour.
Then decided it would be a great idea to sell it to they friends, or anyone interested, so they have designed shops that would display the products.
Erin 8 has made a moving design illustrating how placing same size figure in different places of a perspective drawing makes an illusion of the figure “shrinking” or “growing” depending on its position on the picture.
It was a good start of the Spring term.
Great work everyone!
